Lumituuli Oy, founded in 1998, is Finland’s first and largest consumer-owned wind power company. Lumituuli has over 1,350 shareholders, mostly private individuals.
We produce and sell wind-generated electricity exclusively to our shareholders.
Our mission is to promote wind power in Finland, reinvesting all profits into new renewable energy projects rather than paying dividends. This commitment has earned us the Finnish Social Enterprise mark from the The Finnish Work association.
We own and operate two wind turbines: a 2 MW Vestas V90 in Lumijoki (completed in 2014, replacing our original 660 kW turbine from 1999) and an 800 kW Enercon E-53 in Ii (completed in 2014).
Shareholders can purchase 500 kWh of wind electricity per share annually at a price decided by our board.
Nearly €6 million of the financing for our turbines has been raised through crowd-funded share issues and debenture loans.
Shares are available for purchase via our trading forum, enabling anyone to join our community. By holding Lumituuli shares, you own a part of our wind turbines. When you purchase electricity from Lumituuli, you know it comes from a turbine you own!
